Meet Beth, assistant store manager at our Broadway Plaza boutique in Walnut Creek, Calif. She’s our first Fashion Expert of the Month, a new feature devoted to showing you how our fashion insiders wear their Michael Stars! February’s challenge focused on basics: Here, Beth shows off our heather raglan ¾ -sleeve henley shirt (Style #3685, $68), topped with our beaded wrap bracelet and sunglasses.

Beth says: “The versatility of this new spring style is extraordinary. It can be belted or layered, worn as a tunic or a cover-up. It makes me feel feminine and sophisticated.”

Michael Stars has partnered with actress Mariska Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation to create a limited-edition tee that will help support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. For every Joyful Heart tee purchased, Michael Stars will give a tee to a woman in need and donate $5 per purchase to the foundation.

The Joyful Heart Foundation’s mission is to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, and to shed light into the darkness that surrounds these issues.

Last Tuesday, actresses Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Hilary Swank, Debra Messing and Maria Bello hosted a cocktail reception in Beverly Hills to honor Mariska and her work with the Joyful Heart Foundation and showed their support by wearing the Michael Stars Joyful Heart tee.

Purchase your own limited-edition Joyful Heart tee here.

French Lessons

All winter, we eagerly awaited the debut of our latest Spring novelty line, the Riviera Stripe. Now that it’s finally here, these classically nautical stripes — inspired by sailors in the French province of Brittany and further enhanced by wide boat-necks, tabbed sleeves and a crisp color palette of navy, red, black and white — are prompting even more cravings for French-influenced looks. Read on for a few more style secrets you can swipe from the fashionable French:

In response to the recent tragedy in Haiti, Michael Stars has teamed up with Partners In Health (PIH), a non-profit organization that has been on the ground in Haiti for more than 20 years. PIH operates world-renowned clinics and health-care programs with 120 doctors and nearly 500 nurses and nursing assistants in eight sites across Haiti.

Yesterday, we launched a campaign on Facebook to support PIH’s earthquake relief efforts: We’ll donate $1 to PIH on behalf of each of the next 5,000 fans of Michael Stars.

And starting this weekend, shoppers at our 10 retail stores will have the opportunity to round up their purchase to any amount and Michael Stars will match their contributions up to $2,500.

Help us help Haiti — and help us spread the word!

New Year’s resolutions are fraught with challenge: Maybe you vow on your favorite pair of designer shoes to go to the gym five times a week (instead of five times a year). Or to cook every single meal from scratch. Or to start volunteering on Saturday mornings. But come February, you’re channel-surfing on the couch, ordering take-out and spending your weekend mornings in your pajamas.

Perhaps it’s time for more attainable goals.

This year, our lists included a few fashion must-dos for 2010 — and these we’re going to stick to (we swear!). So what are those style resolutions? Why, we thought you’d never ask:

A Few of Our Favorite Things

December 14th, 2009

Ah, December.  By now, our celebratory spirit has kicked into high gear. And while we’re rapidly crossing the names off our gifting list, who among us doesn’t wind up with just a few (or more) must-haves on their own wish-list as well?

This winter, we’re craving sophisticated, luxe accessories, like our cashmere-blend fingerless mittens (in a gorgeous rich cranberry hue) and wide leather criss-cross belt  (in a soft, weathered cement shade). Also at the top of our list? Wear-with-anything basics in ridiculously soft fabrics. Best bets in this category: Our cashmere-blend cowl-neck sweater and deliciously slinky modal jersey boyfriend tee.

And whether these little treats end up under the tree or in your closet, well, that’s up to you.

We love this new sweater from our holiday collection and we’re sure you’ll end up loving it too. Here are three ways to wear it (at least three that we can think of).

Hang loose when you layer the sweater over a tee:

Cashmere Cardigan with tee

Wrap up in coziness by throwing it over your shoulders:

Cashmere cardigan all wrapped up

It’s a cinch to make this sweater work with a belt:
