New Year’s resolutions are fraught with challenge: Maybe you vow on your favorite pair of designer shoes to go to the gym five times a week (instead of five times a year). Or to cook every single meal from scratch. Or to start volunteering on Saturday mornings. But come February, you’re channel-surfing on the couch, ordering take-out and spending your weekend mornings in your pajamas.
Perhaps it’s time for more attainable goals.
This year, our lists included a few fashion must-dos for 2010 — and these we’re going to stick to (we swear!). So what are those style resolutions? Why, we thought you’d never ask:
- Branch out to brights. Yes, neutrals are extremely easy to wear. They go with everything. But there’s more to life (and fashion) than black, brown and white. In 2010, we’ll be broadening our palette and loading up on vivid, standout hues to wear at every opportunity. Shop our colors here.
- Shiny, happy days. If you ask us, a touch of glintz and glimmer is a never-fail mood-lifter. So why should evening ensembles have all the fun? This year, we’ll sparkle dayside, too, by tempering shimmering pieces with ultra-casual counterparts in quiet colors. Add a bit of shine with our sequin-striped tank or our metallic snakeskin tee.
- Buy strategically. If 2009 had one lesson to offer, it’s to be smart about your investments. In the fashion world, that means resisting filling your closet with pieces that can only be worn occasionally, and instead stocking up on versatile, high-quality styles that can be worn in temps from chilly to balmy. Look for easily layered pieces in lightweight fabrics. Shop layerable tees and tanks here.
Now it’s your turn — what are your 2010 Style Resolutions?
