Imports Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Imports Coordinator will provide support to the Imports Manager. Person will be responsible for communicating daily with overseas vendors and factories and will also work closely with design team on development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicate daily with overseas vendors/factories
• Work closely with design team on development – send and receive sourcing/testing requests to the vendors/factories
• Review and send initial tech packs to the vendors/factories
• Track and log all sample requests & sample submits
• Closely monitor pre-production fittings and PP submittals to ensure deadlines (T&A dates) are being met
• Coordinate/follow-up with design team to ensure all production requirements such as colors, trims, fabric quality, etc. are approved
• Coordinate/follow-up on garment testing and confirm care instructions for all production orders
• Track TOP samples, meet with design team for TOP approvals, and communicate TOP comments with the vendors/factories
• Manage established/quoted production program calendar and timelines
• Assist the Import Manager with projects as requested

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of import production experience
• Basic understanding of fabrics & garment construction
• Ability to spec garments and read tech packs
• proficient computer skills (MS Office and Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proactive and possess the ability to meet deadlines, problem solve, and prioritize
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail required
• flexible and willing to help in other areas of operation when needed
• Bilingual - Mandarin and/or Cantonese preferred

E-Commerce Web Intern

Job Summary:

To assist with executing and implementing operational components of the Michael Stars e-commerce platform and website.
This position reports to the E-Commerce Web Manager who will serve as mentor throughout the duration of the internship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Update Michael Stars website
• Code and release email blasts
• Manipulate digital files
• Conduct routine quality control
• Assist creative services with online marketing materials (email creative, banners, etc.)
• Partner with key departments including PR, Marketing, Retail and Wholesale for online related projects

Qualifications:

• Design courses preferred
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Intermediate knowledge in HTML and FTP client software
• Knowledge of social media and blogging platforms
• Proficiency in creating and editing documents in Microsoft Word and Excel

Visual Merchandising Intern (School Credit Only)

Job Summary:

Support the Visual Merchandiser in all aspects of all visual merchandising elements within the field, including development and implementation of window displays, marketing elements, floor sets, and overall aesthetics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assisting with window display installations and floor sets
• Assisting with the sourcing of propping, store fixtures and store hardware
• Requesting, coordinating and organizing weekly and monthly photographs of stores
• Coordinating the shipment of propping, images and supplies to all stores
• Organizing the storage and disposal of past propping
• Assist with providing continuous communications to stores regarding visual standards, propping, floor sets, etc.
• Assist in planning, compiling information and photos and assisting in data entry for monthly Visual Merchandising Guide that determines detailed placement of product for the retail locations
• Assists with new store openings (ordering supplies/ fixtures, assisting in window displays and floor sets)
• Communicate with PR and Creative Services on requests for in store signage
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing degree in Visual Communications
• Knowledge of retail
• Proficiency in creating and editing documents in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, ability to deal with strong personalities while maintaining high degree of professionalism
• Proficient in Outlook and Internet Savvy
• Part-time, flexible schedule

Physical Demands:

• Communicate with staff.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.
• May be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Design and Merchandising Interns

Michael Stars is looking for unpaid interns for their Design and Merchandising departments

Job Summary:

The Design/Merchandising Intern will provide support to the Design/Merchandising Department. There will be a variety of different responsibilities most of which will require an extremely high level of attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Organize and pull samples from archive/production
• Create concept boards and inspiration books
• Maintain trim/fabric library and create new trim/fabric cards
• Preparation for Design/Merchandising meetings
• Choosing pantone colors for collateral
• Maintain racks in the design conference room
• Organize sample room and design conference room
• Pull blanks / damages from production dept for novelty use
• Scan images and make photocopies for lookbooks and linesheets
• Assist with sample sales, as needed
• Fill out fabric testing forms
• Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Design or Merchandising
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
• Must be able to work well under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Positive, cheerful, team-oriented attitude
• Proficiency in creating and editing documents in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Proficient in Outlook and Internet Savvy
