Michael Stars set out to create the perfect tee, but early on, its founders recognized that the women and girls who bought their clothing were not just customers. Michael Stars’ President, Suzanne Lerner, describes them as “our daughters, sisters, mothers and aunts. They’re our emotional and economic backbones.” Recognizing the importance of those core beliefs, the Michael Stars Foundation was created in 2005.
Over ten years later, the foundation has funded millions of dollars to support organizations that tackle some of the most pressing challenges women and girls face today. Our focus areas include gender-based violence, leadership development and mentorship, and global education with an emphasis on the arts and skills-based learning.
Since the introduction of our men’s line in 2014, we’ve become more invested in the role men play in helping to solve the gender-based issues Michael Stars has been supporting for years. We believe it is vital to engage and educate men in creating a better world for our daughters and sons, our sisters and brothers, our mothers and fathers, and ultimately ourselves.
